About 6 weeks ago, I had a dream I put it in one of the many pieces I wrote, but here is a recap. I was boarding a small commercial airplane. I had a black snake around my neck. As I walked down the aisle to my seat, the snake slithered from my neck, and everything went black. I thought at the time it was a metaphor for the Trump administration taking us to a dark place. The Chinese Year of the Snake began the day of the crash between the helicopter and a small commercial airplane over the Potomac River in D.C. Clearly, the dream was also a metaphor for the plane crash that happened on the Chinese New Year. This is always the strange thing about dreams: they can be multilayered, literal, and metaphorical.
