The real earthquake happening right now is the radical right ramming insane anti-democratic, pro-death legislation through our system at a dizzying pace. Today at 1 PM central time TN is likely to pass a psychotic law enabling teachers to carry guns to school.

Stop and think about how insane this is besides the obvious first thing, asking a teacher to murder a potentially rouge-violent student. Most homes with children in them have gun safes to protect kids from accidental shootings. Right now, approximately 1300 kids a year die playing with a found gun. Imagine a kindergarten teacher who stores their gun in a desk. What happens when little Billy opens that drawer? You could have a mass shooting and the kid wouldn’t even understand what he was doing. Are schools going to put in gun safes for teachers? And if they do, wouldn’t malignant students know where they were and likely break into them? Even if they weren’t broken into how would a teacher get quick access if they were in a crisis? Is the teacher supposed to wear a holster all day like a cop? What if a kid knew the teacher was carrying and was bigger and stronger, or a gang of bad kids decided to attack the teacher and take the gun, you have an instant mass shooting.

This Clint Eastwood fantasy of a lone tough cowboy shooting all the bad guys is just that a fantasy. The reality is instead of 1300 kids dying a year due to gun accidents you will add a zero to the end of that statistic. If 1000 kids die in TN each year then we’ll easily see 10,000. More access means more death. Why don’t these legislatures pass a bill to allow guns on the State House and Senate floor? You can’t bring a gun into the building unless you're a cop. Why not? I mean, a crazy person with a gun could come in at any time and start shooting. Look at what happened on January 6, 2020. Why not let everyone open carry in the state house? We all know why because these guys don’t want to be shot but they have no problem with kids being killed and using dead children to grease the gun lobby wheels. These are some sick f*cks. 80% of voters are opposed to this law but do they care? Hell no. They will jimmy the lines to get re-elected despite their lack of popularity. This is the Republican party and it didn’t start with Trump. Trump is simply the ugly head on this giant pustule sitting atop Lady Liberty’s nose.

You aren’t hearing much about this heinous law because Trump literally farting in the courtroom has taken all the oxygen out of the world. Trump has given cover to so many horrible things. He is the fistfight everyone is gathered around while the Titanic is sinking. Here we have another piece of democracy, safety, humanity, and protection of the actual children who are already here and alive, not the possible children implicit in a zygote, sperm, or ova. But protecting actual life is not what Republicans are all about. They are all about controlling other people’s lives so that they can sell their influence and power to the highest bidder.
