Part of the Uranian nature of this election will be places that have been solidly red turning purple. This will be the biggest surprise—something no one is predicting. Why do I think this? I’ve seen it. Women secretly voting for themselves and their children's rights may be part of this shift. Here in Tennessee, the changing demographics will become apparent in the electorate. Young people coming online to vote are being raised online and exposed to people's opinions worldwide. These demographics have not been considered, but I believe they will play a major role in this unpredictable election. States that were not swing states will edge in that direction, and there may be at least one state that was traditionally red going blue.
Even when Kamala Harris wins, remember that Trump will claim that he won no matter what. Kamala Harris could get every vote in America, and Trump would throw a victory party. Trump’s primary strategy has been throwing voters off the rolls. He has an apartheid-style winning and governing philosophy. Perhaps this is why Peter Theil and Elon Musk (both men who grew up in apartheid South Africa) both support Trump.
You may have noticed that Trump has spent most of his time in states he has no hope of winning, ginning up his base. This means he’s at rallies in New York, California, and Florida, where he has no real hope of changing the outcome. He has been saying and doing outrageous things. People have wondered, “Why isn’t he trying to build a broader coalition of voters?” After all, it is the final push when most politicians try to convince anyone on the fence to hop over their side. Yet Trump is doing the opposite. Why?
Here’s the simple answer. He doesn’t care if he gets the most votes. He knows he most likely can’t win and that his people have been polluting the polls. Even if the sources of those polls are as pure as snow, polls have been extremely inaccurate in the past 20 years. Most people don’t have landlines, and those who do are generally over 70, and no one under 75 answers their cell phone to unknown numbers. Pollsters still haven’t figured out how to adapt to the technological changes that have shut out their 20th-century methodologies. Trump knows that his rallies have gotten smaller and those he supported have lost their elections. He knows that his policies are unpopular and that he has a core group of hardcore, rabid supporters who will do anything, so he has leaned into that. His strategy is widespread J-6. He plans on an assault of chaos, lies, court cases, and violence.
Perhaps the biggest threat to democracy right now isn’t just Trump. It is those he has put in place to do his dirty work. Mike Johnson, the Supreme Court, and all of those MAGA vote certifiers who are the biggest problem. Once Kamala Harris wins, the real fight will begin. We all need to be involved in pressuring the Biden administration to intervene in the chaos and not do what Democrats have done for the past 40 years: bury their heads in the sand.
This begs the question of what the Supreme Court will do. Will they weigh in on this election? If so, will they do what they did in 2000 and install an unelected president in the White House?
