This Monday, when I was doing the mediation known as, “sitting in the power,” I had an unusual, unexpected experience. This meditation is something that mediums use to talk to the dead in preparation for a “sitting,” as they call it. I learned it because I took a class at Arthur Finley during the pandemic when I was preparing to teach my class in psychic development. Before I gave much thought to mediumship, my experience with the spirits of dead people was extensive, but I would not call myself a medium. I didn’t realize until I was focused on where I was getting my psychic information that much of it likely came from discarnate spirits. As a kid who grew up primarily in the 70s and 80s, my research into what was happening to me came from parapsychologists, ESP researchers, and scientists who studied the phenomena. My bent on the phenomena was it emanated from me, my subconscious mind. I got this idea from library books and NOVA specials on ESP. I struggled with it. It was often scary. The idea that it was a part of me made it less so. My greatest gifts early on were the gift of prophecy and telepathy. In retrospect, I was talking and being shown things by someone. Who I don’t know. All I do know is they never lied. Whatever I was shown came to pass whether I liked it or not.
