Until recently (January 6, 2020), it was pretty easy to determine an election astrologically. There was enough precedent and stability to see reasonably easily who would win. My formula was simple — look at the transits. If there weren’t any clear signs of significant transformation in the person’s chart on election day, they wouldn’t win. It’s difficult now because our country is so divided, and even if Kamala Harris wins, turbulence will follow. Also, since she’s an extension of the Biden administration and Trump has already been president, the transformation of being the most powerful person in the world will not be as extreme as someone coming into power for the first time or maintaining their power (astrologically they need less help to do.)
So let’s look back to when Trump stole in 2016 when all the experts said it was impossible. First, we’ll examine Hillary and why I called her chart “anemic.”
It didn’t look like an exceptional day for a woman who wanted to be the first female president. There was a grand fire trine (the best configuration here) transiting Aries Uranus conjunct transiting Aries Ceres in the 6th trine natal Leo Saturn in the 9th and transiting Sagittarius Venus in the 2nd. However, this grand trine implies an unexpected turn in her career, not so much coming into power. Transiting Capricorn Pluto in her 2nd house of work is squaring her natal Libra Neptune in the 11th while transiting Jupiter is on it. This implies a loss of power, even the power she already has. The co-ruler of her 10th house, Mercury, has just had a return, and the transiting Scorpio Mercury is on her ascendant and her South Node in the 1st house, implying having to face a fear, a past life pattern of personal power not going well, bad news. Transiting Pisces Neptune South Node and the Moon in Pisces are on her 4th house cusp, again indicating loss. The karmic North Node in the 10th also naturally brings trouble and difficulty in one’s career. The transiting Scorpio Sun is squaring her natal Leo stellium (Saturn, Pluto, Mars) in the 9th house. There are no positive major aspects to the ruler of her 10th and nothing transiting her 10th. But she would have won if her chart had more energy than her opponent's.
Here’s Trump’s 2016 winning chart.
The ruler of Trump’s 10th house Cancer Mercury in the 11th is being tried by the Moon and Neptune in the 7th. Transiting Sagittarius Saturn in the 4th house is opposing his Uranus in the 10th house, suggesting a surprise change of career and home. Transiting Sagittarius Venus (ruler of the 10th) is opposing his Gemini Sun in the 10th. Transiting Mercury in Scorpio, ruler of his Sun, Uranus, and North Node, is conjunct his 4th house cusp exactly and opposing his 10th trining his natal Venus, ruler of his 10th, and Saturn, natural ruler of the 10th. Transiting Sagittarius Saturn in the 4th also opposes his natal Gemini Sun/North Node. Transiting Libra Jupiter (conjunct natal Jupiter) in the 2nd is sextiling the natal Leo Pluto in the 12th and trine the Gemini Uranus in the 10th. I won’t go into all of the other bells and whistles, but he has a lot of activity on the angles and positive aspects to the ruler of his 10th house, and Jupiter returns in the 2nd. He has many more positive aspects, implying a surprise change in his career.
Hillary had the opposite. Uranus is what you don’t expect. The Uranian aspects in her case were negative because she was thought to be the winner, hands down. Uranus is change for change's sake. No one thought Trump could win, so Uranus brought an unexpected win. If he had been the front runner, it wouldn’t have been a great aspect, except that Trump has a natal conjunction of Uranus to his Sun in the 10th, so Uranus is naturally his friend.
The situation is more complicated now and not as easy to figure out because both candidates have strange Uranian aspects, likely because Trump will cause problems if he doesn’t win. So here goes…
