The myth of Sedna is complex. The details differ slightly from tribe to tribe. The basic story is this:
Sedna was a beautiful young woman who lived with her father/parents. One day, a shapeshifter (a raven, duck, or sometimes a dog) transformed into a handsome man and seduced her. He absconded with her to his home. (Chthonic/plutonic elements with echoes of the mythology of Pluto/Hades’ stealing Demeter/Kore. All Keiper belt dwarf planets must be chthonic per the IAU rules.)
In some myths, Sedna is rebellious and refuses to marry despite her parents’ wishes. In other versions, she is captured or seduced by the supernatural shapeshifter posing as a man. Sedna's father attempts to rescue her either
